“your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.”

~Henri Cartier-Bresson

First things first: all the pictures on this website are mine, meaning they have been taken and edited by none other than me. Who am I? good question. My name is Samantha Cohen—an avid amateur photographer who decided to create this website as a sort of art portfolio.

About me: I was born in Mexico City and moved to sunny Miami, Florida at the age of eight. I just graduated Boston University with a B.S. in Communications and a minor in Jewish Studies. I like to think of myself as a photographer, but than again, I’m really just a lucky girl with a camera. I say lucky because my family loves to travel, which lets me and my trusty camera explore new territory on a yearly basis. I began to take pictures all thanks to my mom. Since I can remember, she would walk around with her bulky Nikon everywhere we went. Soon enough, like many children, I began to copy my mother. She bought me one of those small disposable orange cameras with a roll of 20 pictures. I can honestly say I don’t know who or what I took pictures of, all I know is that when the roll was finished, I was overwhelmingly inspired. I wanted to capture every second of my life. Looking back at old pictures, I always asked myself:  “what was I thinking!” But my eyes have matured and it has become increasingly easier to see a good shot. I've experimented with many cameras, but I've finally upgraded to my wonderful D7000—I don’t think I’ve ever valued an object more. And now, here I am. To make it easier for viewers and to ease my imaginary OCD, I separated the pictures into many categories…enjoy!

Just FYI: my greatest passion is art, I dabble in more than just photography, I treat my camera as a fragile baby, and I never stop taking pictures.

Okay now go and explore my vision!
